How great is the demand for Chinese to English translators?

Is this potentially a good career option?
With literally millions of Chinese people studying English, some to very high levels, translation is a very crowded market place. Unless you have some specialised translation skill, such as technical translation or medical translation it can be very hard going.

Bi-lingual medical doctors, attorneys, and engineers are in high demand. Combining excellent professional credentials with Mandarin language skills is the key to success.
You cannot make much of a living as a casual Mandarin-English translator. It takes language ability plus additional skills, backed up by appropriate university degrees and work experience, to make it big.

You will need to pass a translator’s exam in order to be certified. Only a very few people are allowed to pass each year. Just tonight I helped an excellent English major who does a tremendous amount of independent study, and she is very worried about that exam.

You must be a glorious Chinese man to earn a respectable top place in career in our glorious China. Outsiders with non-yellow skin is paid highly but because the superior glorious Chinese race is preferred in glorious China especially the Han variety. Remember keep away from our glorious Chinese women for we glorious Chinese is superior race and we do not wish to see it tainted. Glorious China becomes a world superpower and English becomes completely obsolete. Bow to the genius of Chinese race. We will extinct English language.

The demand is great, if you’re a foreigner and can speak English and Mandarin fluently your job and money-making opportunities are abundant. Get your foot hold in the media and promotion business.
