   There isn’t any one that is the best. They all have problems because they can’t understand the finer points and nuances of language. You pretty much have to give them single words, but then you don’t know how to put the sentence together properly. If you give them a sentence, it generally comes out pretty weird. A paragraph – forget it.

   I use: http://translation.langenberg.com/

   It gives me several choices. However, I always copy the translation and feed it back in in reverse to be sure it isn’t total trash. And, even if it comes out somewhat accurate, I run it by a native speaker to be sure.

   Free? I don’t think so, I’ve tried some (English>German) but none was accurate it was just laughable (German is my native language).

   http://www.thismeansthis.com is the best, and has most languages, and translates better than others.
