Help finding an online freelance translation job?

November 29, 2009 - 10:02 pm 2 Comments

I am a professional English<>Arabic translator with very good skills, and a lot of experience. I have tried many online services, but they don’t seem to be interested. They don’t even reply to my emails. Can anyone help?

Hi there,

I don’t know which online services you’ve already tried but it might be worth putting your profile on freelance sites such as:

www.ki-work.com
www.peopleperhour.com

You get to detail your skills with the potential to be headhunted while you can also look for suitable projects.

Have you tried contacting organisations how may need this skill directly?

Does anyone know of a good english/spanish translator?

November 29, 2009 - 10:01 pm 1 Comment

I need the translator for a project. It needs to be proper spanish. Mostly only for a few words, but i would like to type a sentence like "The lion waits on it’s prey in the grass." I am doing a project on lions and i have to come up with a one minute speech. I left my book and dictionary in my locker so the computer is the only source of help that I have. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I’ve used Google’s translator: http://www.google.com/webmasters/igoogle/translate.html

Can anyone translate these sentences into arabic, without using an online translator?

November 29, 2009 - 10:01 pm 4 Comments

preferably an arabic speaker etc, as online translators tend to get grammar wrong.

The sentence:

1) Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live

AND SECONDLY,

2) i need a really short version of the sentence, symbolising the whole sentence… EG: "fear ends, life begins" or "not afraid, start living" or anything similar, even just using one or two of the words in the sentence.

many thanks

fear ends, life begins=عـندمـا يـنـتـهـي الـخـوف تبـدا الـحـيـاه= indama yantahi al khawf tabda’ al hayat.

Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live=
فقط حين لا نظلّ خائفين نبدأ العيش (fakad endama la nazal kha’ifin , nabda’ al hayat)

Are many companies in need of a French translator? On average, how much would a translator be paid?

November 29, 2009 - 10:01 pm 1 Comment

I love the French language, and I am seriously considering becoming a professional translator. Merci tout le monde!:-)

Very, very few companies hire in-house translators. Most translators are freelancers, and most get their work from translation agencies. It can pay well, if you have experience and knowledge of specialized fields, like medicine, law, etc.

Which European countries have good career prospects for translators/interpreters?

November 29, 2009 - 10:01 pm 1 Comment

really keen to learn a language potentially becoming a translator/interpreter. however im not so keen on becoming a translator for a country/language that has little need or low demand for one. which ones are in high demand?

inquire in the eastern countries maybe they will need someone like you. but do you have the skills already. in europe people are gifted to speak already 2or3 languages so it’s already easier for them to stretch a little bit more their brains and they will arrive there.

Can transcription and translation take place the same way in prokaryotes and eukaryotes?

November 29, 2009 - 10:01 pm 2 Comments

Think about the structure of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Can transcription and translation take place the same way in these different cells? Explain.

In a general language, they are same because all are made of same constituent unit i.e. CELL. But there are some basic differences, like
1 Type of enzymes involved
2 No. of enzymes and protein factors present
3 Site of translation and transcription
4 Duration of these processes

Does anyone know of a good translator online that translate English/Hindi?

Does anyone know of a good translator online that translate English/Hindi?

Google Translate http://translate.google.com is the best there is, but even the best machine translation will have errors. It does give you an idea of what is being said, but for accurate translation, you will have to depend on a human being.
